CHRISTOPHER STEININGER'S ILLUSTRATION BLOGGY BLOG
which may or may not contain book covers, storyboards, editorial illustration, ebook covers for doodads like the kindle or ipad. I do hope to provide fresh servings of swords and sandals fantasy with a groovy topping of science fiction and maybe some comic art as well. You can always get in touch with me at: csteininger@gmail.com
Spec Ops: The Line - comic
www.DeadHeaven.net
My own comic project written and drawn by me. It's a darker fantasy for mature readers with a more 'traditional' art style. Definitely brought on by my move to Germany both in environment and getting my hands on european comics - art kind of reflects that a bit and veers away from a bit of the american flash. It's like an ongoing exercise to keep up my technical mojo and not just dip into style. Hopefully. Also is published in the franco-belguim over-sized volume format.
Dust eBook cover illustration
Finally had a chance to break out and play, resulting in some pretty satisfying results. This isn't the final eBook size and format (obviously).
Dead Heaven: The Sanguine Harbingers
I was going for late 70's heavy metal album art meets Jim Henson. Hells yeah. First book in the Dead Heaven series.
Cape Breton Island
A look / feel piece done while I was working in Nova Scotia on Richard Scarry's BusyTown Mysteries. It was for an animated series which never fully got off the ground. Cape Breton Island is an interesting place. It really does feel like you are on the edge of the world. Pretty though.
Air battle
A promo piece for Nimbly Games' Altitude game. For those of you who remember playing old school Sopwith on your Tandy in the 80's, it's like that, only turned up to 11.
Saskatoon Broadway Bridge
From Windows an upcoming graphic novel written by performance artist Joe Frank. I was living in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan while doing the art on this book and used a lot of the landmarks as reference, including this old bridge, which I hear is now closed.
Beowulf & Grendel
One evening while at the Dussmann KulturKaufhaus in Berlin I was thumbing through a copy of Comic Art Now and discovered my art from this Beowulf project featured in the book. It was a pleasant surprise being featured alongside heavies like Mike Mignola (Hellboy), Dave Gibbons (Watchmen) and Chris Ware (ACME).
